Although I never did develop my caricature skills, I do want to highlight the very cool "Memory Project." Here is what it is all about:
The Memory Project is a unique initiative in which art students create portraits for children around the world who have been orphaned, abandoned, neglected, or otherwise disadvantaged.
You can learn more at their home page.
I found out about it in 2007 from this Illustration Friday post by Kate. Kate, an impressive artist, has a similar project for Uganda and Vietnam by the (no name) Art Group, founded by founder Sherry Berger. (run-on there, I know, sorry)
Oh, but do check out Illustration Friday, and their blog.
And for me, a few art links I need to spend some time with:
Learn to Draw Caricatures Step-by-Step
Big Head, Little Body (what a great domain name!)
Caricature Connection
Caricature Zone
The Nose
The National Caricaturist Network
