Found this on the Energizer site. Not too challenging for us grown-ups, but children will have a blast learning about, and making their own, flashlights!
How to Make a Flashlight
- Push brass fasteners through tube. Attach a paper clip. This clip will act as on/off switch.
- Inside the tube, attach a wire to each fastener. Tape batteries together and insert into tube, (+) to (-).
- Tape one end of wire securely to bottom of one battery's negative (-) terminal.
- Pass other wire end through a hole (large enough to insert bulb) in center of cardboard strip. Then twist wire around bulb and insert the bulb into cardboard strip. This strip, when taped to tube, will position bulb for contact to positive (+) terminal.
- Use a paper cup as a reflector by inserting bulb through a hole punched in bottom of cup. Secure with tape.
