Man, I really hate being behind the curve on internet trends.
I was on my favorite site for music-creation tools, AcidPlanet, and saw a contest about remixing something called "Chocolate Rain."
I clicked the link to YouTube. OK, so a guy sings a song. But then I got to looking at some of the "response" and "tribute" videos.
I am not sure I "get" this one. Is it that the song is that great? Is it that such a deep voice came out of such a normal looking fellow?
Well, I just chalk this one up to the general weirdness of the internet.
Anyhow, if you really, really like "Chocolate Rain" then you might like to listen to all the remixes at the AcidPlanet contest.
I like the "Vanilla Snow" parody...

I think what makes "Chocolate Rain" so fascinating is that, for least for me, it's hard to figure out if the guy was serious or not. Either he's completely clueless and thinks his stuff is good (a la William Hung), or this guy is a genius in the same category as Andy Kaufman and has created an amazing character....and the fact that that voice comes out of that face. You need to see the Chad Vader version. I about peed my pants.
