My Old Camera, the Yashica-44

I was reading The Other Martin's blog and saw something familiar. He posted a photo of a Yashica 635 and I remembered I had a Yashica too! (and why must I keep mis-spelling YaskiCa as YashiKa???)

For some reason, I added it to Flickr, but never mentioned it here.

Like I mentioned at Flickr, it came to me via my Dad, who probably got it from his parents.

I'd love to try taking photos with it, but have no idea how operate anything like this. I've never used an SLR and this boggles my mind. I need to read the manual and check out a few tutorials.

Still, I love having it.

A rear-end thermomoter too

Waaay back when Vox was Not Comet (aka Beta), I posted about a Thermos I wanted. And of course, you can't mention a thermos without the Thermos Song from "The Jerk." Back then, Vox had no swanky media player, so I couldn't feature the AWESOME REMIX of the "Thermos Song!" But now I can!

Can't say I am a big fan of the all-overalls look for a band, but hairy armputs and the beret with the fuzzy ball on top sure completes the look. How could Eileen ever refuse? However, I can't deny that as a teen, I couldn't take my eyes off the blonde in the overalls. video link

Video: Best Steve Martin Bit - The Absent-Minded Waiter

Before he went all Hollywood, Steve Martin was a stand-up comedian. No, really. My dad used to listen to "Wild & Crazy Guy" on the 8-track. Um, did that just give away my age???

Anyway, this is Steve's first movie, a short film called the Absent-Minded Waiter.

It will probably be pulled once Steve's people find it online, but for now, enjoy one of his best routines!
