My Mug

I thought I would join a few Vox Groups, the first? "Coffee" of course. Then "Baristas & Coffee Lovers" and I'd join "Javaheads" too, but I need an invite.

So, to honor the occasion, I decided to post my Coffee Mug mugshot and then add it to the Groups.

 

This sounds like it should be a Vox Hunt topic (or maybe it has).

I just wanted to pass this along...

A while back I joined up to be a BzzAgent, which means I sometimes get to evaluate things (websites, consumer products) at no charge if I agree to share my opinions (whether + or -).

Bzz asked me to join up and poke around Gusto, a travel-based social network. So far, I really like it.

If you like to travel, and write about your experiences and opinions, you might like Gusto.

It is a free site, and has a lot of functions. I really have not spent enough time with it to rave about it, but I like what I see.

If you want to join, use this link http://www.gusto.com/bzz. That will get you DOUBLE the storage space (from 1GB to 2). I don't get anything if you sign up, just so ya know.

Anyhow, at some point I hope to do more with My Gusto Page, but for now, it is mighty bare. But if you do join (again, free), add me as a Friend.

Free RSS Feed Building Tool

Today only (1/18/2006), visit Giveawayoftheday.com and you can have a fully functional version of FeedMix. If you are into Podcasting or an RSS junkie, you should jump on this deal.

Here's how:

• Visit GOTD
• Download the .ZIP file (and get the free Zip Central, if you don't have a Zip tool)
• Go to the FeedMix folder you just created, and run Setup.exe
• It will connect to the GOTD site, so be sure your firewall let's it pass through
• The installation program will start, so install it
• When you close the installer, a brower will launch. Close it.
• Behind the windows, the Setup program should have a pop-up showing a registration code. Copy that to notepad, and save it. You can use it if you need to re-install.
• Run FeedMix, click Help from the menu, select Register and copy and paste the code you just saved.
• Done!

FeedMix is regularly $49.95, but today, and today only, you can get it for free.

AcidPlanet and the guitar king of infomercials, have released the elements, or loops, for his song "Fuego Malaguena."  These are WAV files you can download (meaning you or anyone else) to remix for a contest on AcidPlanet.com. Of course, you don't have to enter the contest to use the loops. I sure won't be, not for lack of software, but skillz.

I have Acid 4.0 (old version) and got it for a steal on eBay, but the full version of the new Acid it waaaaay out of my budget. However, you can try Audacity for remixing, it is 100% free.

But, it would still be fun to have the loops for experimenting. Oh, get them now, because when the contest ends, they can't be downloaded anymore.

Also, every week AcidPlanet gives out 8 (usually more) free loops in their 8Pack. I've collected these for years, and they are %100 royalty free.

 

8mm Memories

A few years ago I had a shoebox full of 8mm home movies transferred to videotape. At the same time, I found the 8mm camera that was used to shoot them.

What I didn't expect was to open the film camera and see film in it! Yes, there is still film in this camera!!! Who knows what kind of family memories or childhood moments have been trapped in this camera for 40 years???

Now, I have no idea if it is ruined. I mean, I did open it, exposing it to light. I shut it fast, but you know, that probably was enough to ruin it.

So, I am not sure what to do. Use up the remaining film and send it to be processed? Does anyone even DO that anymore? I mean, 40 years is a long time for film to sit unprocessed (not to mention being exposed).

What would you do?

Remix Moby

For you aspiring remixers/dubbers/mashers, Moby has several audio samples from "GO" available for remixing. The contest is for remixing the hit dance track "GO" and the samples (or loops, or stems, or whateva) are free to download. Well, TWO are free. If you want all 10 it will cost you $5. Not a bad deal, really.

 

All the info is here at Moby's site, and sorry to say, I am not participating. Though I may buy the loops so I can play around sometime.

This is an oldie (2005) but I just loves me some ELO mash-ups! This one mixes P!ink with the Electric Light Orchestra, and the results are wondermus!
