This packet of what I thought was Honey came from the Mexican restraunt with our sopapillas.

It really looked like Honey (the other side is clear and shows the contents - looks like the real deal), but when I took a closer look, it became clear I was being tricked.

This is really honey-flavored corn syrup!

Now, seriously, is real honey that expensive? I'd think it was more expensive to create this fake honey than use the real thing.

Good grief, fake honey! What is happening to this world????

Back In Time - When Blogging Was Fun

Call me jaded (Hiiii Jaded), but blogging hasn't been fun for me for a long, long time.

Maybe because the Blog world exploded. Maybe because folks I liked to read stopped blogging. Maybe because I quit reading blogs I used to love (for no fault of the author). Maybe because my readership dropped because my lack of interest showed.

Whatever the case, having had a blog for 6+ years you see a lot of change.

I think this is what is so interesting to me about Comet.Or Notcomet.

For the first time in I don't know how long, I am starting to have fun again. Not as much fun (yet) as "back in tha day" but I can sense it happening.

I think a lot of it is because many of the bloggers I lost touch with, are showing up here. As they should be, because they are all excellent, interesting, witty, funny, and just plain friendly.

Now I have no idea if I will be reconnecting in the way things used to be, and I am not sure that would be best anyway. But I have to tell you, seeing bloggers that I used to used to read (and some that even used to read me) is so cool. Plus, I am dscovering a lot of folks I've never met before - and I feel like I've known them for ages.

It really is like going back in time - back to the days when Blogging was new and Blogging was fun. When meeting another blogger you connected with was like discovering a $5 bill on the sidewalk.

Right now, it makes me think of this community as the "Little Rascals" ... it is like being a member of "Our Gang" again.

I am probably not communicating this very well. I am not sure if this even makes sense to anyone but me.

Things will probably be different once this service is open to the world, "Our Gang" will grow and dillute and spread out and drift. Maybe. Maybe not. Maybe that is where Comet will make things different.

But for now, I am glad to be in the Clubhouse again.

Explore Comet

I noticed a new link today called "Explore." I clicked it and behlod (!) a list of all the activity of my fellow Cometeers!

It even has a global tag cloud! (Finally a way to see all the QOTD answers)

Nice, very, very nice.

Checking Team Comet's page confirms it - we have a new release. I am sure this isn't a result of my request, but I did request this and I am going to pretend they did it just because I asked! :)

So now go Explore already!

Feedback: Connections, QOTD, Ego, Friends, Blog This and Tags

A few feedback items I need to submit.

1. I agree with Lilia, there should be a link under Friends, Family for Connections. Otherwise you really don't have a quick way to see who has updated. I am not sure what purpose Connections serve, since there isn't really a way to sort them. Maybe I'm missing something,

2. I'd love to see a list of who has selected ME as THEIR Friend or Connection. Part ego, part curiosity, but apart from the email we get, is there a way to see a who's list you are in (on)?

3. Question of the Day - OK so lots of Cometeers participate, but why isn't there a way to View All the posts of those who answered? This should be a no brainer. Since the QOTD form automagically inserts "qotd" as a tag, Why not just click that tag and show all public comet blogs with that tag, sorted by date? By Question would be better, but heck, I'd take ANY way to see them all.

4. Cross-Comet Tags - I'd like to see a tag cloud somewhere on comet that would let me click the tag and see all the posts that use that tag, not just in my blog, but in all public posts in comet.

5. Blog This - It would be nice to see a "blog this" link where I can blog about someone's posting, and it would not only include a link to their post in mine, but leave a comment or trackback type note in their post about mine.

6. Insert Code - I'd love to be able to insert some YouTube code so I can display a video here. I think Google Video has this too, Having come from a code-view blog, this is hard to love without!

Did I forget anything?

7. If I am on a Comet blog, why can't I add them as a Connection or Friend right there? How about a simple link, maybe right by the RSS that lets me add them? I do not like having to go back to my Connect tab to do this each time. Whoops, ok. I see the CONNECT link is by the Blog Title at the top of the screen. Not where I would look for it, I still think it should be in the sidebar.

Friend Me, Connect me, my fellow Cometeers!

I am having trouble making new friends!

Well, my teacher said I don't play well with others, but I think I outgrew that.

Seriously though, I am having trouble finding people I know in the non-comet blog world that are also in comet. I found one (Hi KB), so that's a start.

What would be nice is some sort of directory where you can locate other Cometeers with similar interests or personalities.

So far unless you know someone or happen upon their Comet blog via a comment on another blog you are reading, there doesn't seem to be a way.

I do like the page that shows you other Cometeers who've posted, but you only see that after you post something. That needs to be a link we can access anytime. And it needs more options and more users listed.

OK, so, after that rant, who wants to be my friend?

Inspiration

Life Is So Good

This is the book that inspired the title of this site.

I've not even read the preface yet, but have it thanks to the local library.

It is the inspirational story of a man who learned to read at age 98 and wrote this book at 107 (-ish, not sure - I told you I haven't read it).

I am sure I will get to it, after I've read the other 2 books I have from the library, plus the one I bought for a dollar at Dollar Tree, and the book I have to read for bible study, and the other book I have on time-management (HA!).
